Illegal Motorcyclists
|
Members of the public and HCS members are warned not to approach illegal motorcyclists on any SSSI/SPA, or anywhere else where you know motorcycling is forbidden.
On the 28th October 2007 four Bikers attacked a Police Officer on the Broadmoor to Bagshot Woods and Heath SSSI/SPA. Fortunately his injuries were not as serious as they could have been. It does indicate that there are bikers who are violent and will stop at nothing to stop being caught. So please stop and think - If they are prepared to attack a uniformed Police Officer what will they do to a member of the public who tries to stop them?.
If you see a biker please phone the police and explain they are riding illegally and the danger they pose to legitimate users of the particular site in question.
The HCS’s SSSI/SPA Protection Group Partnership (Coordinated Law Enforcement) carries out frequent Law Enforcement Exercises simultaneously on all parts of the SSSI/SPA. They involve several Police Forces and agencies. The Results are encouraging with Bikers having their motorbikes confiscated and other law enforcement measures being taken.
Remember if you see a Biker, phone the local Police force and explain that they pose a danger to other users and that the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 as amended is together with several sections of the Road Traffic Act are being contravened and Fines up to £20,000 can be imposed. |
